Product · Shaft connection & protection
Rigid and flexible shaft couplings — including jaw couplings, beam (helical-slit) couplings, diaphragm couplings, disc couplings, bellows couplings, and Oldham couplings — all built to drawing.
Wolfer manufactures shaft-coupling components for everything from low-noise stepper drives to heavy-duty industrial shafts. We pick the geometry to your drawing — including elastomer hardness (Shore A 80 / 92 / 98) on jaw-style couplings — and machine custom variants from solid bar to print.

Three-piece design — two slotted hubs and a floating center disc; large radial-offset compensation, zero backlash, shock absorbing, replaceable center. Suited to servo / stepper drives needing parallel-misalignment compensation.
One-piece helical-slit body — zero backlash, compact, compensates angular and small radial misalignment, easy to install. Suited to encoders, small servos and light-duty precision drives.
Metal bellows as the flexible element — high torsional stiffness, zero backlash, high transmission accuracy, compensates misalignment in all directions. Suited to high-precision positioning, servo, metrology and semiconductor equipment.
Single- or double-disc metal diaphragms transmit torque — lubrication-free, maintenance-free, zero backlash, high-temperature capable, compensates angular / axial misalignment. Suited to high-speed, high-power servo and pump drives.
Two jaw hubs with an elastomer spider — damps vibration and shock, simple, easy to install, replaceable element. Suited to motor-to-pump / fan power drives with frequent starts and shock loads.
Pins with nylon elastomer sleeves transmit torque — cushioning, tolerates small misalignment, easy to replace, economical (GB/T 5014). Suited to medium-load general machinery with frequent starts.
A double-row roller chain wraps two sprocket hubs — simple, easy to assemble and remove, high capacity, tolerates small misalignment. Suited to low-/medium-speed, medium-to-high-torque conveying, mining and general drives.
Internal / external gear mesh with crowned teeth — high load capacity and torque, compensates combined misalignment, requires lubrication. Suited to heavy-duty, high-torque, low-speed metallurgy, hoisting and heavy-industry drives.
Cross / cardan universal joint — transmits torque at large angles, compensates large angular misalignment, robust and proven. Suited to rolling mills and machinery where shafts meet at a large or varying angle.
A rubber tire body as the flexible element — excellent vibration / shock damping, large misalignment capacity, low noise, lubrication-free. Suited to wet / dusty environments with frequent starts, shock and larger misalignment.

What we make
Standard mid-range industrial — Shore A 92 spider
Low inertia, zero backlash — for stepper and servo drives
High torsional stiffness, zero backlash — for precision encoders
Heavy-duty industrial, high parallel misalignment
Low torque, ultra-low backlash — semiconductor / medical
High radial misalignment tolerance, low stiffness
Two-piece clamp, no keyway, true zero backlash
A coupling is never just "a coupling" — it is a four-way design trade between misalignment tolerance, torque capacity, torsional stiffness, and backlash. We pick the geometry to your drawing and machine custom variants from solid bar to print.
Flexible couplings (jaw, beam, diaphragm, disc, Oldham) accept axial / radial / angular misalignment. We pick the geometry to your drawing — including specifying the elastomer hardness (Shore A 80 / 92 / 98) on jaw-style couplings.
For keyless shaft–hub connections (shrink sleeves / shrink discs), see our Locking Assemblies line; for keyed quick-mount taper bushings (Taper-Lock / QD), see Taper Bushings . Common GB and DIN sizes are stocked in both lines.

FAQ
For high-precision positioning (encoders, ball-screw drives) use a beam, bellows, or diaphragm coupling — they have zero backlash and high torsional stiffness. A jaw coupling tolerates more misalignment but has small backlash and torsional give.
Yes — both have their own product lines. Taper Bushings covers keyed quick-mount TB / QD bushings; Locking Assemblies covers keyless shrink sleeves and shrink discs. Both stock common GB / DIN sizes, plus custom variants.
“Their locking assemblies and couplings have performed outstandingly under the heavy shock loads of our ceramic presses — three years, zero failures — and after-sales response is always prompt.”
