Machine Tools

Spindle drives, ATC tool-change indexers, and rotary-table gears for CNC machine builders.

Machine-tool OEMs are repeat buyers of high-precision custom gears. The patterns are remarkably stable across builders — spindle-drive helical sets, ATC indexers, rotary-table worm-gear pairs — but every machine model has slightly different bore sizes, shaft mounts, and gear ratios. We cut to drawing, in low-to-medium volume, with the heat-treat sequence the application demands.

What we ship

Parts we make for Machine Tools.

Spindle-drive helical gears

Carburized + ground, HRC 58–62, low-noise helix angle to spec

ATC worm-gear pairs

Bronze worm wheel + steel worm, adjusted for low backlash

Rotary-table bevel gears

Spiral bevel for indexed rotation, ground after carburizing

Tool-holder taper components

BT / ISO / HSK adapter machining to drawing

Custom locking assemblies

Replace keyed joints on spindle / tool-holder mating shafts

A typical machine-tool customer buys five or six different gear part-numbers from us — most of them in lots of 20–200 pieces per year. We hold the tooling for their helical-gear cutter set, so re-orders ship faster than a first-article.

Spindle drives are usually a tight helical pair, ground after carburizing. ATC tool-change indexers need a worm-gear pair with low-backlash setup. Rotary tables and indexers run on heavy-duty bevel gears or worm sets. We make all three families on the same hobbing + grinding line.

For aftermarket repair (machines whose original gear supplier has closed or discontinued the part), we measure the worn part on the CMM and ship a fresh first article in ~ 10 working days.

Engineering requirements

What makes machine-tool parts different.

High surface hardness

Carburized + ground tooth flanks — HRC 58–62 for fatigue life

Pre-paired gear sets, optional lapping for whisper-quiet running

Tight bore concentricity

≤ 0.005 mm bore-to-pitch for spindle gears

Repeatable re-orders

Tooling held for 5+ years — re-orders ship faster than first articles

Spindle gear set — replaced Japanese OEM at −56%

Helical spindle gear pair for a Chinese CNC machining-center builder, replacing a Japanese OEM with a 6-month import lead time. ISO Class 6 ground, customer ordered repeat lots for 3 years.

0.02 mm angular repeatability

ATC tool-change indexer

Custom worm-gear pair for an automated tool changer, hand-paired and lapped for low backlash. Used in a 32-tool ATC on a flagship machining center.

FAQ

Common questions from machine-tool buyers.

Do you hold tooling for repeat orders?

Yes. We hold hobbing and grinding tooling for at least 5 years after first article. Re-orders for an established gear part typically ship in 15–20 days vs. 30 for a first article.

What is the largest gear OD you can grind?

Standard envelope is Ø 600 mm. For larger gears (up to Ø 1,200 mm) we use the large-machine bay at our Foshan plant — please share the drawing for a feasibility check.
